Sleep Sliding Away

That's what it feels like the summer is doing. It's going by so very fast! This weekend, Kieran and I played host to Sage, so her mom could go celebrate her birthday. We spent Friday playing at the beach (how can you not when you're in Hawaii) and then Saturday, I took them on their very first big kid horse ride, around Koko Head. They were so excited!!! Kieran loved the fact that the saddles were British (I personally perfer western style saddles, buy hey I was glad my little man was happy)! After horseback riding, we came home to surprise Auntie Tamara with grasshopper cake, flowers, balloons and brunch! A fun weekend for all! I hope your weekend was a great one.

Fashion Show & First Tooth Lost!
Today was a super busy, super fun day, with my very favorite two little people. The first part of the day was spent with my adorable little niece Sage. I love getting to spend girly time with Sage, doing all sorts of fun things that little boys really don't want to do. :) We started our morning with a trip to Starbuck's. Me coffee, her vanilla milk, before heading to lunch at CPK..her choice. Not that I was complaining...it's pizza! Next, it was time for a bit of a fashion show a JCrew. She was hysterical and soooo much fun!!! The sales clerk and I totally agree that she could be the next Crew Cuts model. After the fun of shopping we headed over to the Lego store to pick a little something up for Kieran as a surprise. :) Lego's in hand, we headed to Punahou to meet Kieran and play at the lily pond for a bit. The lily pond is always fun. The kids have the best time trying to catch guppy's and watching all the turtles and big fish swim around. Unfortunately, one little girl got a little too excited and took a swim! She wasn't hurt and she could swim, just a little freaked out and the lily pond water isn't exactly water you'd want to go swimming in voluntarily. From there, we went to pick out a movie, for pizza and a movie Friday. Kung Fu Panda 2 was the resounding winner. After dinner, a mini fashion show, to show Sage's mommy, what she'd gotten, dinner and the movie, we said good night to Auntie Tamara and cousin Sage. As, Kieran was getting into bed (very late I might add) I noticed that his lose tooth was basically hanging out. I told him I though he needed to go into the bathroom and take a look. Sure enough! He went in to look at it, he asked me to wiggle it and when I did it popped out!!! What a busy day!!!! :) I hope you all had a fantastic Friday too!!!

You Can't Always Go Home....

Well, I shouldn't say you can't go home, just that it doesn't always work out as you hoped.  This post is dedicated to my husband, Shaun.  Who, a couple of months ago said to me, "I want to go home." Which has started us on this journey that we now find ourselves on.  He, still in New York. Kieran and I currently in Honolulu.  I should state first, that my husband is the hardest working man I know. People often think I'm over exaggerating when I say I never see him, but he works an average of 65-80 hours a week. So, I'm not really exaggerating at all you see. My husband isn't one of those crazy men that has to prove to everyone that he's successful so he beats them all to the office. He works those hours because there's that much works...more honestly.  Plus, (point of pride) he is successful and not in a flashy look at me way, but in that subtle, quite, confident way that only someone that really knows what they're doing can be. :)  But I've gone off topic. Shaun, would have stayed working long hours for the next 40 years, if  I'd said no, to his wanting to come home. I did not however, and we stated with the unraveling of our East Coast lives. We let the school know that Kieran would not be back next year, we got rid of all those pesky winter clothes we'd know longer be needing in those too long Februaries. The list goes on, but you get my point.  So, the day came when teary eyed the little man and I said see you in August to daddy and headed to our new home state! Well, at least we thought it was going to be.  It would turn out that in less than one month all of plans would unravel. When things unravel with a young child it's a lot harder than with two adults, but not impossible.  Harder, still when the hardest working person you know calls you apologizing for letting you down, when it wasn't their fault in the first place.  Communication, is often the hardest thing for people to learn throughout their lives, but without proper communication a great deal of hurt and damage can often without meaning to or fault be done.

So, I can't tell you where we are going to live in the next month, which as a mother terrifies me. But, life has thrown us some pretty big curve balls in the past and together we've managed them, so I have to believe that we'll be okay this time too, because we have each other.
