Happy Holaday's: Last Day of School

So tomorrow is Kieran’s last day of Kindergarten! I can hardly believe how fast the time has flown and not just this year but since he was born, it really seems like just yesterday that we were bringing him home from the hospital all 8lbs 2oz of him. Now he’s officially a big boy going into the first grade and long gone are the binkies and bottles, replaced instead by loads of Lego’s and video games. You always hear parents saying that they get big too fast, but you really don’t understand the joy and sadness of it until you have your own. It's so exciting watching your child grown and learn and come into their own self; but it’s also bittersweet watching your baby transform, losing their sweet little cherub cheeks and the soft backs of their hands and and that sweet baby scent. Instead, coming home with pockets full of rocks, and mystery items (sometimes I don't want to no what it is) their big eyes so happy and proud of the cool items they've found on their latest journey. That excitement in their little eyes replaces any sadness with immense happiness at their joy of discovery.

This summer I’m lucky that I get to spend it with my little guy in Hawaii, an entire summer with just him and me. It’s such an amazing chance for the two of us to get out and explore together, laugh and play, before he gets to a point when hanging out with mommy for the summer isn’t cool. I’m so excited to build sandcastles with him and splash in the waves, a chance to watch my baby become the little man he’s meant to be.
